Dr. Amelia Ashmann

BOD

Dr. Amelia Ashmann migrated to the United States in the late 1960s to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a physician—a path driven by her deep desire to serve others. That calling to help people has defined every aspect of her life and work, embodying the true spirit of servant leadership.

After establishing her medical practice, Dr. Ashmann served the Colorado community for over 40 years while raising her family in Arvada. In 1984, she founded PASCO, creating a space for Filipino Americans to celebrate their heritage, strengthen their community, and share their culture with pride. She was pivotal in establishing programs that remain at the heart of PASCO today — including the PASCO Choir, Rondalla Group, and Dance Troupe—and she helped bring Filipino artists and musicians to Colorado to showcase the incredible artistry and talent of the Philippines.

Guided by her belief that “you must know where you have been to know where you are going” and “we must protect our history to ensure a better future,” Dr. Ashmann began collaborating with other Asian American leaders in the 1980s to ensure that Filipinos had a seat at the table—that they were not only seen, but heard.

Today, Dr. Ashmann remains a passionate champion of Filipino culture, leadership, and unity, continuing the legacy of service and empowerment that has defined her life’s work.
