For Mark Perez, the Philippine American Society of Colorado (PASCO) is more than just an organization; it is the community that shaped him. A first-generation Filipino-American raised in Aurora, Mark’s involvement began in elementary school as a folk dancer. Over the years, he mastered traditional dances like the Cariñosa and the Tinikling, finding not just a connection to his heritage but also a lifelong network of friends and family.

Mark’s role in the community grew alongside him. During his years at Regis Jesuit High School, he served as the Youth Board Director, where he took pride in organizing events that bring the community together, from the annual Easter egg hunt to the 4th of July picnics. It was also during this time that he discovered his passion for Dragon Boat racing. A member of PASCO’s very first team in 2002, Mark’s dedication to the sport eventually led him to become the Head Coach of the Fighting Dragons in 2013. Under his guidance, the team has earned recognition both locally, nationally and on the international stage as Mark became one of Colorado's first paddlers for Team USA at the 17th IDBF World Dragon Boat competition in Brandenburg, Germany.

Mark’s professional life is equally driven by a commitment to helping others. He earned his B.A. in Integrative Physiology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and later completed his degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant at Arapahoe Community College. Today, he works at an outpatient clinic in Parker, where he uses his expertise in human movement to help patients recover and thrive. Whether he is on the water or in the clinic, Mark remains dedicated to the values of teamwork, culture, and service that he learned through PASCO.
