What is a parol?

Parol is a traditional Christmas ornament that is now an iconic hallmark of Filipino Christmas. Traditionally made with bamboo and Japanese paper and lit by oil lamps or candles, it can now be made with wood, tissue paper, and lit with electric lamps or lightbulbs.
